minimal wave is proud to present a full length lp by french mastermind philippe laurent. the lp is entitled hot-bip, a pseudonym laurent used throughout the 80s and 90s and also the title of his 1983 cassette on fraction studio. hot-bip features tracks recorded between 1979-1988, most of which have either remained unreleased or only previously appeared on scarce 80s experimental cassette compilations. laurents music can be described as spacey synthpop, containing much depth and range. it is edgy, political and pushes the limits, transforming his sound beyond one specific genre. hints of classical influences as well as electro influences can be heard. hot-bip showcases laurent’s best musical output from the 80s and includes some very avant-garde pieces from as early as 1979. a limited edition of 999 hand-numbered copies, this lp is pressed on 180 gram, translucent red vinyl and housed in a black and white matte printed heavyweight sleeve.

after two re-releases of conrad schnitzler classics, (zug & ballet statique) now m=minimal releases a completely new work from the pioneer of electronic music. conrad schnitzler is a sound explorer. for many years, he has been on expeditions, journeys through his collection of electronic synthesizers almost every day. sounds he liked has been conserved on tape and stored in his sound library. the result is a huge library of audio files, he calls them >solen<. >borngräber & struever< have got the chance to examine that library and started to con-struct new pieces out of the hidden gems. these are not remixes but new compositions. none of the sound combinations were thought or heard before. the 8 tracks form an album independent of any trend and therefore it becomes a real acoustic environment for everyone. the album was produced at studio.wannsee. to give the album more authenticity, the complete audio processing was done using analog equipment. they not only used many classics among the finest synthesizers and outboard equipment, but also custom built tube gear. the icing on the cake are the tubes used from the 60s, which bought christian borngräber on a trip through the atacama desert in a small radio repair business in the city of calama. thanks to the desert climate even the packaging of the tubes looked as new

fennesz writes: seven stars was recorded in vienna in january 2011. i recorded and mixed the album within 3 weeks. liminal and july were existing pieces which i have reworked. aah, how we have missed them! the fine young gentlemen that are channel x, two of stil vor talents most active producers of meticulously crafted and deeply energetic tech-house smash hits. and just in time for the open-air season they now come back with two very convincing pieces of dancefloor art. first up is >little symphony<, an epic space opera that takes it cues from early 90s techno and mixes it up with post-modern grooves and beats. the wide and open spaces are filled with some very hymnal string patterns that are given a final treatment with a reverbed and high-pitched vocal sample. contrast that with the rather jittery beat and a subbass as deep as the frequencies will go and you got yourself a substantially clear bit of techno that is best imagined when it is dark and only some beams of air tell you where you are. channel x do not produce, they direct and all of the sounds are their actors! on the flip things get more light-hearted and set for the daylight hours as well. >steamboat willie< is a heavily sample-orientated swinging piece of jack. the rhythm guitar lead the way on top of a clap-based loop that sets the basis for some very jazzy interpretations along the way. clarinets, trumpets, percussions, brass, effects and even some talking vocal samples are all allowed to join in this hedonistic big band that is at play. this is one for the sunshine, this is one for the smiles on the faces, this is one to feel instantly good about yourself and everything around you. two very different tracks on this ep, but both equally stand out for themselves

savor musics second 12 inch release follows a rockin record by papol and ekkohaus. we are proud to present today some raw future classics that will quite simply tear the floor into pieces. lucas mari is a hard to catch butterfly that spreads his subtle wings on few carefully selected projects. a resident of the city of rosario in argentina, lucas mari appeared occasionally on the very fine argentine label greener, german imprint stock 5 and on us labels adjunct and airdrop. in true early 90s chicago fashion, the two original cuts feature some serious drum machine action, building a sturdy way to allow for some exquisite chord relief to flourish. gez varley, absolutely stunned by listening to the originals, decided to contribute to the release with a simple and hypnotic remix that only he, the one and only g-man has the recipe for.

kieren dickins aka dels is a new type of rapper (which is another way of saying that heãs more than just a rapper). applying the kind of attention to detail, micro-management and macro-vision which jay-z used to build a business empire, dels makes art. popular art mind you, but art all the same, an album of emotional peaks, musical innovation and surreal, brilliant lyrics, held together by such a unique, such a strong vision that it sounds almost silly to suggest itãs just a debut. already causing a stir with the tasters ¶shapeshift÷ and ¶trumpalump÷ (and the videos he masterminded for them), everything is now ready to show how these pieces fit into the bigger picture.

rrocckkett 88 is a suite of 45 dazzling instrumental tracks - ranging from 30 seconds to 2 minutes long - alternating between rhythmic and atmospheric forms, all composed on a single synthesizer, the ensoniq sq 80 (manufactured in 1988). as the inspiration for this creation, zano bathroom (an illustrator, artist, and sound experimentalist based in atlanta) used jackie brenstons song, >rocket 88<, considered by many to be the first de facto rock and roll song.
with rrocckkett 88, the artist invented the story of his music. he conceived a fantasy music production house in the mid 80 s in new orleans where hip hop, house, techno, r & b, go go, punk and new wave are both the backdrop and inspiration. using these themes zano bathroom has imagined a comic strip score, made of video game music and tv commercial soundtracks creating a playful, disposable universe.

lost&found is einomas new ep, out in february 2011 on shipwrec. the record features one long new track on the a-side as well as two older and previously unreleased pieces for the b-side. the main track >bla< was conceived after editing real-time and live sessions made for gigs after the release of last years >tvenna< ep. the sound material >bla< was initially made from was quite old and the idea and title of the ep >lost and found< came about, reworking of older ideas in a new setting. the a-side demonstrates the more dancefloor side of einoma while the b-side explores the more dark and dense regions einoma have become more known for.

for the second and far overdue release on his little leaf imprint matt moroder delivers a superlative psychedelic reimagination of shuggie otis which sits far beyond the realm of your blog standard ableton edit. matt scliced the original into little pieces put it new together and added some drums and percussion with the respect this soul classic deserves. this rework is hypnotizing makes you wish to never end. on the flip hamburgs hardest working entertainer erobique used the same kind of gentleness to rework some cello and voice by one of the greates disco visionaries and songwriters that left us much to early. by creating a dirty mpc beat and blend it with vocals and cello erobique creates his own vision of the late arthur russell far from the average four too the floor mediocrity. this vinyl only release is strictly limited to 300 copies and shines even more with a splendid artwork that shows love and care

zckr02 is a limited release of 450 pieces which are hand-numbered and available only in vinyl. this new release is from a young and talented bremer artist named playmodul and it also marks his début on zckr records. he has been a core part of the zckr label from its birth, which has bloomed in this hanseatic city. playmodul performs powerfully both live / djsets at his favourite house/club: the zucker. his deebut single from zckr records starts with the ep canula, a wonderful dream journey between electronicfields and deep waters.

beretta grey proudly brings to you the >finite ep< by the talented new producer hailing from san francisco, christina chatfield. christina chatfield was raised in a family of classical musicians, geographically and culturally located between the warm jacking beats of chicago house and cool soulful stabs of detroit techno. espousing her genetically rooted appreciation for music, christina attended the berklee college of music in boston where she quickly absorbed every detail of electronic synthesis and began her analog hardware and studio gear addiction. with the >finite ep< on beretta grey, christina has created two timeless pieces of music that are sure to please intelligent dance floor goers around the planet.

influenced by distorted electro sounds, to orchestral,jazz and blues pieces such as shostakovich and tom waits,he presents his first record,3 twisted and rocking tracks on archibell records.the first track right in the spotlight is >tokamak< a track with a dark kick and grind, featuring layered synths and vocal samples that break and drop with attitude.no time for intros this track hits hard and fast and leaves unexpectedly. next up is >g.i.g.a.s<, defined by its epic breaks, driving melody and sudden mood swing.perhaps the less sinister track out of the three, probably to give you a break for whats coming up next. unlike tokamak, nyxstarts with a slow baleful, classically influenced intro filled with suspense. eventually dropping into a deep atmospheric hard hitting groove. evil rhythm crafted with precise microsampling.

space junky is the track that first brought bosco delrey to public attention, landing him pieces on the fader, rcrdlbl and elsewhere. it features his typical excess of influences- semi-psychedelic guitars, bedroom soul hooks, splurting dancehall reggae basslines- anchored down by solid songwriting and lyrics. it s a weirdly great combination that made us think this guy might be on to something. my my racecar is harder to pin down, but no less intriguing with a chopped up guitar lead, mouth pop rhythm section and zipping bass. the drop the lime influence shines on these two tracks, lending heavy bass, sound effects and making everything crispy.
